Dark Matter eLiquid
Enjoy the wonderful flavor of our latest VapeSafe eLiquid - Dark Matter.
Dark Matter tastes like German chocolate cake. For those of you who have not had the fortunate to try a piece German chocolate cake recently, this is a great way to experience the flavor without getting any of the calories. German chocolate cake is a layered cake filled and topped with a coconut-pecan frosting. Traditionally sweet baking chocolate is used for the chocolate flavor in the actual cake. The robust filling and topping is a caramel made with egg yolks and evaporated milk. Once the caramel is cooked, coconut and pecans are stirred into the mixture. Finally, rich chocolate frosting is spread around the sides of the cake to hold in the filling.
Dark Matter eLiquid by VapeSafe captures the essence of German chocolate cake. Dark Matter eLiquid delivers plumes of vapor and rich chocolatey flavor that you'll want to enjoy again and again. Try Dark Matter today!

Special three disc (two CDs + DVD) edition includes a bonus DVD that contains a film of the Dublin shows by Vincent Moon and Jeremiah. 2009 live set featuring 39 songs from their acclaimed 2007 working rehearsals in Dublin, Ireland. R.E.M. set up camp at the venerable Olympia Theatre in Ireland's capital city and tested new material over five nights before passionate, capacity crowds. This live album was produced by Dublin native Jacknife Lee who, along with R.E.M., co-produced Accelerate, the album which emerged from these shows.

Summary: "Great compilation of the Olympia residency"
This set includes a version of every song played at R.E.M.'s residency at the Olympia in Dublin in 2007. It's quite the eclectic mix, with songs from Chronic Town (1982) interspersed with unfinished songs that would appear on Accelerate (2008), and everything in between.
The video is okay, a bit too artsy for my taste. If you've seen the DVD that came with the Accelerate special edition, it's like that. It's more of a mood piece that tries (and mostly succeeds) to convey the feel of the residency shows, rather than a straight replica thereof. Having seen it once, I feel no need to watch it again.
What makes this worth buying is the song-by-song notes by Peter Buck. As with other compilations he's written for (Eponymous, Dead Letter Office, etc.), the notes make the whole package worthwhile.

Summary: "Buy the CD-Only Version"
The music only version of this set is pure five star, but the DVD-Video disc is so poor as to rate a single star. Unwatchable black-and-white pinhole shots filmed from obscure angles. I thought we left the "concert as film" concept deep in the 90's. Pointless video artistry attached to what must have been an absolutely exhilarating concert in Ireland. Pickup My Morning Jacket's Okonokos CD/DVD sets, if you want the experience of a filmed concert augmenting and enhancing the music.

Summary: "Old Songs Still Sound Fresh!"
This is the best music purchase I have made this year. That says a great deal about how wonderful these guys sound, even after all these years. The excitement is there and I find myself grooving to the music.
Who needs 'new' music, when you can always turn to a classic?

Summary: "Excellent Live Versions of Less Played Songs"
Doing a concert and recording live versions of some of your lesser known/played songs has been done before (Billy Joel's "Songs in the Attic" for one), but that doesn't mean it isn't a good idea. This collection of songs is a good example. Played live at what they claimed was not a concert, allowed R.E.M. to dig deep into their catalog of songs and dust off some classic songs. Also, because this was "not a concert", it allowed the group to feel free to make mistakes and not have to worry about trying to be perfect and naturally, this gives the entire production a intimate and friendly feeling.
The collection of songs is fantastic, including some newer songs but taking the bulk of the songs from much older albums, including just about the entire Chronic Town EP. An amazingly refreshing change from a band recording yet another live version of the same ten songs. The recording and music quality on the discs are fantastic as well. So good that at times you alomst forget that these are live versions.
The comments made before or after the songs add to the intimate personal feeling, as do the great liner notes that reveal some of the thought processes that went into the song choices and interesting facts about the songs.
I have to admit that I haven't yet had time to watch the DVD, so I can't honestly give an opinion on it.

Summary: "Great music, bad DVD"
The two CDs of R.E.M. performing new and old songs are terrific. Excellent performances, great sound, interesting song choices - really excellent.
The DVD, by filmmakers Vincent Moon and Jeremiah, is pretty much unwatchable. I FORCED myself to sit through the whole thing - it was painful. That's not good, considering I'm a long-time R.E.M. fan. The filmmakers spend way too much time calling attention to themselves and not enough time on the subject, the band and the music. Note to Vincent and Jeremiah: I didn't buy the DVD version of this album to see your art, but to see the band that I love. If I wanted art school films, I'd watch a Stan Brakhage piece.
